Hi Everyone,
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website on How to Report a Hate Crime. I’m a second-generation Korean American, born and raised in the LA area.
When Covid-19 was classified as a pandemic, I witnessed blatant Anti-Asian racism towards the AAPI community and have experienced microaggressions that have made me feel uneasy to be in my own skin. With the Asian community increasingly becoming targets of hate crimes, I instinctively became worried for the safety of my family and friends.
Realizing that there were no resources in native Asian languages, I made it my mission to create visual booklets to train our community on how to recognize & report Asian hate crimes.
The first set of booklets were printed in May 2020 and were distributed to my local Los Angeles communities. The booklets are now available locally in print and digitally as e-booklets in 13 languages (Albanian, Arabic, Khmer, Korean, Simplified & Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Tagalog, Thai, Vietnamese, Spanish, and English only) for regions all across the United States.
I am the first organization to do what I’m doing.
I never could have imagined the impact that my grassroots booklets could have on bringing awareness to end Anti-Asian hate crimes and am openly pursuing publicity and partnership opportunities to keep awareness moving forward.
